Why You Should Learn to Speak German
Germany is at the heart of Europe, both geographically and culturally. Be it in the clean Alpine air, or in uber-modern Berlin, Germany will provide a great learning experience. Germany is a major industrial center in Europe. It is well known for its automobile manufacturing including the luxury Mercedes, the sporty Porsche and BMW, and Volkswagen. Germany is therefore the international leader in the field of biodiesel production. Meanwhile, biodiesel is on offer at 1,900 petrol stations in Germany. Germany is becoming an increasingly attractive holiday destination for guests from overseas. In 2007 a total of 55 million overnight stays by foreign guests were recorded, even more than in 2006 when the country hosted the Football World Cup. Germany is one of the world’s top investment locations and the largest exporter of intralogistics technologies. Germany is the world’s fourth-largest economy and the largest in Europe. The German economy showed substantial improvement in 2007 at 2.5% growth due to the effect of recent economic reforms and strong global economic growth. Germany is strongest in its defense of property rights, backed by world-class freedom from corruption. The economy also enjoys strong business freedom and investment freedom. Germany is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever visited, from the Alps to the Baltic. The German people are some of the most friendly, funny and intelligent people I have ever met and are eager to continue a conversation. Germany is a federally organized country for more that just political reasons. It is historically and culturally made up of many different provinces and regions. Germany is definitely the best place to live, work, and meet people. It is Canada’s sixth-largest export market and ranks sixth among Canada’s suppliers. Canada’s bilateral trade with Germany has grown considerably in the past decade: Canadian imports from Germany rose from $3.83 billion in 1990 to $10.26 billion in 2005, while Canadian exports rose from $2.20 billion in 1990 to $3.23 billion in 2005. Germany is truly a modern great power. The total area in Germany is 357,021 square kilometers. Speaking German is not a prerequisite for most jobs, but people should still be willing to learn the language. Speaking German is certainly advantageous, after all, it is in the top 15 most spoken languages in the world. Speaking German is a great advantage in economics, because negotiations through a third language can lead to misunderstandings and could cause expensive consequences. Learning to speak German can be quite easy to begin from scratch, especially for native English speakers. The main easy parts of speech are decently easy to learn when it comes to speaking German. Speaking German is also a major advantage in many non-German companies, particularly in the chemical industry, as Germany has a large economy and many companies, like BASF, operate globally. Speaking German is a part of the German culture. If you want to truly communicate with native German speakers, it is actually a nice way to keep the conversation private and intimate. Speaking German is no special talent, but speaking it while realizing positive actions paves the way for the future.
